We’ve got kids and we’re growing a business. Welcome to the first podcast episode of Bootstrapped with Kids.
In this episode you’ll meet your hosts Brecht Palombo and Scott Yewell.
Brecht bootstrapped a boutique online SaaS and training business in a real estate niche while running another real estate business full time. He now runs the SaaS and training business as his full time gig. He’s got no background in software other than selling it and no formal computer science education.
Scott defined and launched multiple products as a product manager for tier 1 brand names over the past 10 years. Previously, he earned a living as a start-up software engineer coding in perl, C++, and Java, and has recently been teaching himself Ruby on Rails. He has undergraduate and graduate degrees in electrical engineering and an MBA from Cornell University.
Together they’re working on a new SaaS project that’s due to be released soon.
In these podcasts our aim is to share our experiences so you can learn from them and know that if you’re out there starting or growing a business and you’re putting it all on the line with kids we’re right there with you. You’re not alone.

Hi Brecht and Scott,
My name is Jian, I go by JC these days. Well, I’ve listened all the way to the end 😉 I am in the same boat as you guys, with family and kids and I used to be a foreigner too in the USA.
Been running JiansNet.com for more than 5 years now, and stumbling through the frustration and joy (lots of long nights and hair pulling, it was desperate too a lot of times…), it is definitely worth it to “just do it”. While a lot of wantrepreneurs just waited and waited.
I am also a Mixergy fan and I totally agree with you guys that the fast acquisition of Fflick by Google definitely is an outliner. I think it has more to do with PR and being in the “circle” than anything else. I doubt that machine learning or any fancy technology only would cut it.
Anyhow, I am a believer of building value and long term business success than short term gains and bubble propelled startups.
Thanks for mentioning the Seth Godin startup school podcasts, haven’t heard about that before and will listen to those too.
Keep up the great work!

Just listened to the first show guys and I think I may have found another regular listen. Great start.
What really pushed me to write what the comment, “Callou, bastard”.
I loathe Callou as well, my 3 year old makes me watch him!
Keep up the good work.
Nathan

Hey Nathan, Thanks for the note! Mercifully my children no longer have an interest or maybe they can’t find it lately but either way I’ve been saved. Down with Cailou!
