Brecht and Scott do it again! They killed their second idea and are moving on to the next. On the plus side, we go to the conclusion a lot quicker this time… We talk through our decision making process and a couple thoughts on what we should do next. Also, Brecht describes the concept of the self milking cow in gory detail.

This world is filled with cows producing fantastic milk. Ninety percent of which are being exploited by the ‘farmers’ and want to leave the farm and become a self milking cow. In the real world we know these types of cows as ’employees’ who now want to become ‘entrepreneurs’.

Yeah, I’ve met so many “idea people” who aren’t making what I think is real progress… The thought that is sticking with me from this is about creating the systems that would allow us to become self milking cows… We all have so many potentially great ideas if only we could orchestrate the execution.

Great episode guys. I know I’m all over the map here but ya’ll are inspiring me to blab a bunch of stuff! Thanks for keeping my mind running!
1) New site design looks top-notch and 337% better than the prior version – kudos! (I really do want to click that beer-donation button more now, too…)
2) I just want to jump in and say *I, for one* appreciate the “rawness” of the podcast not because I don’t think you guys aren’t good at what you do… it’s because you’re presenting problems that are just above or nearer to where *I’m* at and it’s hits home.
I love Jay Abraham, Ted Nicholas, Joe Polish, Dean Jackson, Tim Conley, Pat Flynn, etc. etc… and those are listed in order of “level of empathy” for me. Do I have any idea what it takes or feels like to be the $9.8b marketer? Hell no. What do I know about having $25k a pop mastermind groups on Necker Island? Zilch. How about $50k per month profit? Nope.
But you two guys hustling, bustling, and busting @$$ at a level I am still trying to achieve, but can taste… that hope of close proximity… that nearness and camaraderie on what I know will be both of your journeys to even greater success….
THIS is what I get some actual, real-life applicable, and appreciated value from. From my perspective, you guys occupy a space of growing success that cannot be manufactured by the “gurus out there” and is little discussed in such a useful, entertaining, and personal level.
I hope this made sense as it’s a very difficult thing to discuss or “verbalize.” But everything you guys do is appreciated.
3) On rejuvenating motivation… you guys got it ON THE NOSE!!! Entrepreneurs are absolute #1 targets for hitting rock bottom while they hustle. I haven’t read the post referenced in the podcast, but it sounds like a spitting image of Dr. Neil Fiore’s “Guilt-Free Play” mentioned in his book The Now Habit. Awesome book, though a bit academic.
I can’t do a fair treatment of the topic here but this little reminder keeps me in check: you can only let the conscious mind rule for so long before being rescued by the unconscious mind (subconscious). If you don’t *choose* how that unconscious rescue happens, then you are more likely to channel that rescue ‘energy’ into less useful things like: depression, worry, malaise, procrastination, etc.
Choosing to incorporate some level of guilt-free play in everything you do… in regular intervals… is absolutely necessary for overall human success.
Think of it like your marriage. How many special occasions can you go forgetting flowers and a fancy dinner before you’re in for a “stern talking to?” Keep the whole relationship happy for familial-success. Keep your whole mind happy for self-success.

And there I go taking up a billion and a half pages here. Sorry about the long reply but this episode was spot on. Thanks again, guys.

Thanks for all the positive thoughts! I will check out the books you referenced and we’ll mention them on the next episode for anyone else who may be interested. Bootstrapping is tough on a lot of levels… Personally I always feel so constrained in time and resources, I don’t often allow myself “fun” time because there is always something else that needs to be done. I am going to try to work this practice into my routine.

There’s a sign in my office that says, “Inappropriate humor is my drug of choice. Intervention not required.”
Keep it coming guys… If it’s good enough for Scott’s mom, it’s good enough for me.
